In flipping through the June 2004 issue of SIAM Review (vol 46, no 2), I happened to re-read Emma Previato's review of the CRC Concise Encyclopedia of Mathematics. If you have electronic access to the SIAM journals (through a university library, perhaps), go read it for yourself! It's a wonderful example of what a book review can be.
